Online Donations
Fundraising is easy with online fundraising tools! When you registere for the Race you automatically receive your own fundraising webpage which can be personalized. The Participant Center houses your personal fundraising website. From your Participant Center you are able to set up your personal webpage, send e-mails to friends, co-workers and connect with friends on Facebook. Be sure to check your Participant Center often for new donations and messages.
For a step-by step guide on how to set up your Participant Center Click here. You'll find all the information you need to be successful at online fundraising. Be sure to make your own donation, above and beyond your Race registration fee, this sets the tone and encourages the people you email to ask for support to make a donation to support you. Start now by logging in, and encouraging everyone you know to visit your webpage, see what you are doing in the fight against breast cancer and make a donation on your behalf.
Paper (Offline) Donations
While we strongly
encourage everyone to use the online donation program, some people will
prefer to donate by cash or check. We will gladly accept donations in
any form; however, if you are trying to compete for a prize/reward
incentive, we need your help to ensure that we can track the funds you
work so hard to raise.
Donations by check or cash will be
considered for individual prize/reward eligibility as long as we receive
them in a envelope with an official Fundraising Form. Click here to download the Fundraising Form .
You may collect your donations and turn them in at one time or, if you
collect a large number of gifts early in the Race season, go ahead and
turn them in either by mailing to the Komen Office (please don't send
checks) or in person at the Komen Office - office hours are 9am - 4 pm.
Be sure to include the Fundraising Form. We will add your offline
donation totals to any online donations to arrive at the total funds you
raised.
You can also turn in your donation envelope during packet pickup week or at the Pledge/Donations tent on Race day.
You can also provide your donors with a Donation Form that they can fill out and mail in directly with their donation check.
Make sure they make their checks out to Komen Southwest Michigan Race
for the Cure and put your name in the memo line of their check. Mail to:
Komen Southwest Michigan Race for the Cure
229 E. Michigan, Suite 245A
Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007
Does your company have a matching gift program?
Check
to see if your company or your donors company has a matching gift
program. If they do, make sure you take advantage of it to increase
the amount you raise. Let others know about this option and have them
check with their companies.
If your company has a matching
program, obtain the necessary paperwork from them, complete the form and
include it with your Fundraising envelope. Komen will submit the form
and give you credit for the matching gift. Please be sure that your
name is on the Match Form so that you can get the appropriate credit.
Thanking your donors and supporters
It
is important that you thank each and every individual that supports
your fund raising efforts. Individuals that make a donation online will
receive an automatic electronic thank you/acknowledgement message. The
Affiliate will provide a receipt for cash and will send a thank you
letter to be used as an official tax receipt to any donor who makes a
gift of $25 or more.
Every dollar makes an impact – thank you for everything you do!
