SW MI Komen Race for the Cure®Team ChallengeT.E.A.M. means "Together Everyone Achieves More," and leadership is essential to build a great team. You can organize a team for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Southwest Michigan Race for the Cure® and help eradicate breast cancer in southwest Michigan today. Participation in the Komen Race for the Cure® in Downtown Kalamazoo on May 20, 2006 is not limited to individuals who want to run or walk. Groups of people can join together as corporate or organizational teams to get fit and to support breast cancer awareness.
Start organizing your team now. Talk about the Race and what it does for
our community. You and your team can make a difference in the lives of women
(and their families) who have been or will be diagnosed with breast cancer in
their lifetime. You can contact us for materials to help you. This is our tenth anniversary and we anticipate 2000 runners & walkers at the Race, with 75% of the entrants as members of a business or community team. Team entries can be done on-line by insuring Team members sign up for your team or can be mailed in as a group. All team members must complete an individual race application and sign it. Full payment must accompany all entries. Set-up your team on line then e-mail out the link so your team members can register on line just by selecting the team name from the drop down box and completing the on-line registration which cuts down the paperwork you deal with. Contact us at kmurray@stcatherinesiena.org or ccrowell@gazellesports.com with any questions or concerns. This year there will also be a "Kids for the Cure" race, giving young people an opportunity to raise money for breast cancer awareness while also competing in a quarter mile run/walk. An important part of the Komen Foundation's mission is to educate and bring awareness to the need for early detection and early treatment of breast cancer. In line with this mission, a member of the Southwest Michigan Affiliate of the Komen Foundation can be scheduled to present a free breast health education program to your business, civic, or community group before or after the Race. These sessions also help educate your group about the Race and the Komen Foundation. Simply contact Rosemary (Bunny) LaDuke at 877-KOMENSW for more information or to schedule a session.
